Most companies have taglines, something that expresses the company's core characteristics, something short, something you can easily remember. At msg global, our tagline is PASSION. PEOPLE. PERFORMANCE. For us, it's not just an internal feel-good message. It's something we want everyone to know, and it's what we want to be known FOR. While three words are easy to remember, it's what those words mean that matters. Let's start with PASSION.
It might seem odd to prioritize passion over people. But we see passion as a necessary characteristic, something that's not trainable but more an innate desire you're born with or develop to achieve your full potential.
Most people have interests. Some people have hobbies. Still other people have things in which they dabble periodically and recreationally. We respect and admire those people. But we don't look for them. We look for the people with discernible energy, with apparent desires to learn, to help, to fix. We look for people for whom serving our customers isn't just a job: It's a calling.
Doesn't that sound like a tall order? It is. We know that. But we're not inclined to settle. We don't have a sliding scale of what's acceptable. We don't want people to phone it in. We want people who are all out all the time.
If we're going to do it, we're going to do it well. We're going to be fully committed. We're not going to be satisfied until the job is done right. And we're not going to expect our clients to be satisfied than with anything less than passionate dedication from us.
Of course, software development and consulting are not all rainbows and unicorns. There are things that are difficult. But passionate people don't give up. They look for another way. Passionate people are honest and forthright about what's possible. Passionate people will do everything in their power to find a solution. Passionate people just care and want to give their best.
That's why we prioritize passion ahead of people. As Jack Kerouac wrote, we want you to see how bright we burn and say, "Awwww!"
